European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) with SOLUTION4

Overview: What is the EUDR?

The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) sets new standards for sustainable trade: from 2025 onwards, only deforestation-free products, such as timber, soy, palm oil, coffee, cocoa, beef, rubber, and their derivatives, may be marketed or exported within the EU. Companies of all sizes face the challenge of fully and digitally documenting the origin and sustainability of their supply and procurement chains, including geolocation of the source locations.

EUDR Circle

CHALLENGES IN IMPLEMENTING THE EUDR

Identification of all relevant products and raw materials in the portfolio (e.g., via HS codes)

Collection and management of extensive documentation: product and supplier data, origin, quantities, cultivation/production sites, legality certificates, geocoordinates

Conducting risk assessments at batch and supply chain levels (e.g., considering political and ecological factors of source countries)

Preparation and submission of due diligence statements to the EU – electronically for each individual batch

Ensuring complete traceability, particularly for global, complex, or multi-tiered supply chains

Increased documentation and audit effort, with overlaps to other regulations (e.g. national due diligence requirements, CSDDD)
